Equality

This country is founded on the the principle that all are "created equal. Americans have fought to preserve this basic right since our nations inception. This does not apply to some of the people, some of the time, nor should it limit certain rights for certain people.

Equal protection under the law means that all Americans should have the same full civil rights, regardless of sexual orientation. Marriage is a fundamental civil right being denied to same-sex couples. The Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), Proposition 8 in California as well as others like it across the country, and those who campaign and preach that the right to marry is reserved for male-female couples only, are denying same-sex couples equal rights and violating the equal protection clause of the 14th amendment of the U.S. Constitution.
